Wednesday Movie Review: Chronicle

Chronicle, released early 2012 by 20th Century Fox, Davis Entertainment, Dune Entertainment My Personal Rating: 4 out of 5 *'s(bear in mind, my ratings for books and movies are based on enjoyment factor, not cinematography, power of musical score, or other such artsy nonsense. I either enjoyed the movie, or I didn't, I leave the nit-picky critiques to the art film buffs and columnists). Synopsis : Andrew is a troubled but creative teen with a keen visual eye and a high-quality HD camera. He is introverted and socially awkward. Along with his friends, Matt and Steve, they make a discovery that leads them all to acquire powerful telekinetic abilities. They're now capable of, well, almost anything. But things take a dark turn. (As per 'anonymously' written blurb on IMDB.com) Opinion: I'm going to start this by saying that this movie wasn't 'great', or 'spectacular', and, as explained, I don't have an artsy, film-critic point of view ...

Monday Makeup & Tuesday Brainstorming

Monday: Okay, so no 'Monday' 'cause yesterday was my hubby's b-day, so he stayed home, thereby making it more like an extra Sunday.  Updates: Buried - did edits on chapters 1-6 & sent back to Mary, completed and sent in chapter 7, started chapter 8.  The Summoned - *sigh* still editing Part I & no progress yet on Part II (maybe I should just scrap what I have for chapter 7 and rewrite it from scratch :/).  Spent nearly all of 'actual' Sunday kicking stock photos back and forth with Verity for Buried 's cover art, but it was worth it :). Working out kinks on an already written out, bare-bones plot for inclusion something Ariel Flynn is creating. Tuesday : All right!! Brainstorming day! Now, not much has happened yet, this morning.  However, over the weekend, I was talking with Ariel some about a possible off-shoot/sequel to the story she's working on for contribution into my Phantom Court series and she gets frustrated from time to time b...

Friday Book Review

Beautiful Demons (Peachville High Demons, Book One) by Sarra Canon Rate:   4& 1/2 out of 5 Stars Basic Summary:   Troubled teen named Harper who's had a history of 'strange episodes' is shuffled off to a half-way house for girls in her deceased mother's long-ago home town.  After only a short time, she realizes that she's not the only person in Peachville who's 'strange', but her belated acceptance and sudden, bizarre rise to popularity as a Peachville High Demons cheerleader comes at a price. Opinion: No matter how old I get, it seems I'll always enjoy a good paranormal fiction geared toward the YA crowd. Though this was a quick read, I didn't find it to be lacking for much in the way of storyline or depth of the characters. I, personally, felt a little more of the magick could have been delved into, but in all honesty, I'm only in the middle of the second book of this series, so I can't say that this is an issue through...

Thursday= Ghost Stories!

Well, clearly yesterday was a complete bust- no movie review 'cause I was far away from my computer, celebrating the 4th at my sister's house in the Boonies.  Next Wednesday will be the movie Chronicle , and Book Review tomorrow will be Beautiful Demons,   (Peachville High Demons: Book One) by Sarra Canon. Actually, I'm in the middle of doing edits on the first 6-chapter chunk of Buried , but my eyes were starting to cross, so when Curiosity Quills tweeted about my blog a few minutes ago, I figured it was as good a time as any to get around to the Thursday post.  Now, as I stated on Tuesday, readers are invited to share their own stories, as well.  There is no requirement for it to be spooky, creepy or scary (because not all brushes with the paranormal are), but it is required that it be a truthful telling and that, if you are relating someone else's story, you trust the validity of the individual AND that person is okay with you sharing the tale. Here's o...

Tuesday: Brain-storming day!

So, since I didn't have anything set for this day and my morning started off with my contributing author on the Phantom Court series, who is also my test-reader (and one of my very best-est friends in the world) Ariel Flynn asking me about how the protagonist from The Summoned , Bri, was going to reply/react/respond in the scenes in her Book, in which Bri and her faithful, always-pretty Demon Kai-Yun make what could be described as prolonged cameos.  I don't feel secure referring to their appearance in Ariel's contributed story as 'supporting' characters, because they're not, but they're also slightly more involved in at least part of the story than background characters. Ariel and I frequently soundboard for each other, so that's when it came to mind that we could set Tuesday for that.  An idea which she told me she is completely behind, so there we go.  :D As stated, today we're conferring on her work for the Tales of the Phantom Court (or, a...

Blog Post Schedule (potential)

So while Friday saw me all happy, today . . . not so much.  Nothing's actually wrong , emotion-wise, but I was up half the night with what might be either food poisoning, or the effects of simply eating something that didn't agree with me (which could have been anything, since it was Mathias' birthday weekend and there was junk all over the place).  And while it seems that I'm okay when I'm stationary, when I'm walking around I get severe stomach cramps.  I can't stay stationary, 'cause I have 3 boys and a baby girl, so there we have why I'm just a touch bit grumpy today, BUT, I shall not bother you any longer with my complaining.  Well, my complaining about this, anyway ;D I am going to attempt to set up a schedule for this blog, so that, say those that only want to check back when I'm posting a review of a book can just check in on that day and ignore my nonsense the whole rest of the week XD. Monday - What the upcoming week looks like (a...
